Sejalan is the Indonesian analogue of the world-famous BlaBlaCar service, which simplifies the search for car companions (ridesharing service). Joint trips almost always existed and were practiced, however, Frenchman Frederic Mazzella was able to bring them to a common “denominator” in 2007. Since then, the popularity of private car sharing has only increased – now in almost every country there is a company dedicated to providing such a service. What is the huge popularity of ridesharing, what “dividends” does it promise to people who practice it?
So, for one side (drivers) Sejalan is a great way to save on fuel and other transportation fees, by sharing the costs proportionally with all fellow travelers. And for the second side (passengers) – this is an opportunity to get from one point to another as quickly as possible, spending significantly less money on it than in the process of overcoming a similar route by public transport. People who do not like to travel long distances alone often use the search for fellow travelers service – after all, the presence of a pleasant companion in the car is always welcome.
But much higher than all mercantile and social interests is the opportunity to make an insignificant, but obviously positive contribution to the environment – cars are a source of exhaust gases that are not good for the environment, and this, in our opinion, is the main plus of such joint trips. The Sejalan application interface is friendly and simple – go through the mandatory registration procedure, indicate the date of the trip, route, car capacity and the cost of the trip, after which you can discuss with your fellow traveler (or the driver) other details.
