“Godville” is a simulation game of a God who lives in the modern Pantheon – on a storage cloud – and speaks from there truths that no one has needed for a long time.
And on earth, the game world is inhabited by people who are controlled by divine wisdom. This control has the logic of “carrot and stick”, that is, with the help of lightning and rewards. Monsters also live in the game world: they are independent and do whatever they want in a completely random order.
The characters of the game communicate with each other through dialogue: God speaks revelations, and people try to follow them, depending on the length of the whip and the sweetness of the encouragement. People communicate with each other using texts: they write messages to each other, and wait for an adequate reaction from God and other players.
Game process:
- The game has no achievable goals (process is important here). In addition to two: 1) to make you feel the absurdity of the world and 2) to give pleasure from communicating with the gods;
- Choose your character, give him a name and try to make him survive;
- The events of the game take place according to the principle of object-oriented control: this is when you write words for nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs, and the program interprets these words as a divine command, and executes them, depending on the reaction of other gods ( read – players);
- This principle has a logical extension: even when you are out of the game, your character lives his natural game life.
Godville is a game full of biting sarcasm and humor. This is a derogatory parody of strategy and arcade games in which you need to develop your hero for a long time and tediously according to unknown laws. Everything is simple here: every minute of the game is a moment of your glory or shame!
