Android 14 (Upside Down Cake)

The release of Android’s 14th version, codenamed Upside Down Cake, took place in October 2023. Music player changes are also noticeable, like its placement in the background settings panel. You can easily switch tracks, pause, and play while enjoying visual effects. A micro-menu lets you choose which devices receive music, connect them, and adjust volumes. Notably, wallpaper previews now display in full-screen mode before setting as wallpaper or lock screen. Android 14 lets you customize your watch face style and set it as your lock screen. A new monochromatic interface mode lends a subtle, focused feel with muted colors. The lock screen now shows weather, day, and date on one line rather than two. Unlike before, widgets like battery status, connected devices, smartwatches, and Bluetooth speakers can be moved to the home screen.

Changes in functionality include restricting third-party app access to the gallery without owner consent, enhancing security. Your smartphone can now be used as a webcam or video recorder. Setting regional preferences like number formats, week start day, and units is now easier for travelers. Other updates include message flash alerts, expanded emojis, app cloning, and more.
