Earthquake Network – Realtime alerts is an attempt by the developers of Francesco Finazzi to create a mobile real-time seismic early warning system, for which the capabilities of modern mobile devices are used. Almost any smartphone has such a sensor as an accelerometer (apparent acceleration meter), and it is he, in tandem with this software product, that captures the most miserable ground vibrations, warning the user (and other people previously indicated by him in the list, for example, using automatically sent SMS messages or e-mail) about a potential threat.
In addition, the Earthquake Network – Realtime alerts application collects information from various sources that monitor seismic activity in a particular region, and transforms it into a visual format that is understandable to the average user. For example, it allows you to find out the exact zone where the earthquake occurred, its magnitude on the Richter Scale, the number of people who may have been in the affected area, whether the tremors provoked a tsunami, and so on.
Of course, one should not expect miracles from the Earthquake Network – Realtime alerts program, because with 100% certainty so far not a single service has been able to predict this destructive natural phenomenon. The product is distributed free of charge, but the PRO version has wider functionality, for example, it issues a warning about danger through voice notification, visualizes fluctuations using Augmented Reality technology (augmented reality), provides priority when sending messages to chat, and so on.
