FireChat is a unique messaging platform that does not require an active internet connection. How is this possible, you ask? The fact is that using Wi-Fi or Bluetooth technologies, devices with this tool on board create a special network with a radius of up to several tens of meters, allowing a group of people to communicate. Such an algorithm can be very useful, for example, in nature, at some large-scale event, in short, where the standard connection is unstable and does not allow the full use of standard instant messengers or other social tools.
A feature of FireChat until 2015 was the ability to communicate exclusively through public, that is, group chats in one room, private communication at that time was out of the question. Fortunately, such functionality appeared a little later, although the tool is still mainly used for “conversations” in a group. It should also be said that the application does not require anything from the user that even remotely resembles the registration process, since it simply does not exist here – you only need to enter a name under which other participants in the conversation will see you.
The larger the FireChat network, that is, the number of active users, the faster the message reaches the addressee, being transferred from device to device, moreover, public messages can be read by everyone, but private messages are encrypted using a special algorithm and are visible only to the intended recipient. This application has already demonstrated its relevance in several mass actions, for example, at the 2014 music festival in India, as well as several protest actions.
