Grow Empire: Rome is a solid representative of the Tower Defense genre with a competent interspersing of RPG elements into the gameplay, which can be described in just a couple of words – “wall to wall”. The guys from the Games Station studio offer users to go to the heyday of the Roman Empire, and try to push the boundaries of the virtual state as much as possible, competently suppressing the resistance of local residents who do not want to lose sovereignty at all. In strategy, both attacks and defense are of equal importance, because while your main forces are thrown at the next fortress, insidious enemies, such as barbarians, can take advantage of temporary weakness and attack your garrisons, and all valuable resources are stored there, having lost which there is nothing to think about quickly victorious march through the territory.
In addition to the base itself, the developers of Grow Empire: Rome were rather attentive to the diversity of personnel – war elephants, capable of destroying almost any obstacle with their mass, well-aimed archers, pouring a hail of arrows on the enemy ranks, swift cavalry, whirlwind carrying through different flanks, ordinary infantrymen, performing the function of “cannon” fodder. There are thirty-five types of units in total, all of them should be unlocked and the combat characteristics of each warrior should be pumped to the maximum. Of particular value are fighters endowed with ultimate abilities, there are only four of them, and getting one at your disposal is akin to almost 100% victory. Sweep through hundreds of European cities without giving the resisting enemy the slightest chance of victory!
It is known that any war becomes obviously losing without a constant supply of gold and other valuable resources. Fortunately, in Grow Empire: Rome the user will not feel a shortage of these important materials – each conquered territory will automatically bring a certain amount of money and resources to the general treasury. Dispose of this good should be economical, calculating in advance the risks and expediency of buying certain units and siege weapons. The project is graphically designed with a cartoon bias, which does not detract from the strategic seriousness of all the events taking place on the game map, especially since the authors paid close attention to drawing even the smallest details, the same buildings look original, and each branch of the military is distinguished by its unique appearance.
