At Captain Droid, our mission is to provide a safe, fast, and reliable platform for discovering and downloading Android applications. We prioritize transparency and user safety above all else. This page outlines our rigorous content standards, verification protocols, and the team behind the project.
1. Security Protocol: How We Verify APKs
Safety is our #1 priority. Before any file goes live on Captain Droid, it must pass a strict multi-level security check. We have a zero-tolerance policy for malware.
Scanning Technology
We do not rely on a single antivirus. Instead, we use a comprehensive approach:
- VirusTotal Integration: Every APK is scanned using the VirusTotal API, which checks the file against 70+ antivirus engines (including Kaspersky, BitDefender, Norton, etc.) to ensure no threats are detected.
- In-House Tools: We utilize additional proprietary tools to analyze the APK structure, permissions, and code integrity.
- Signature Verification: We cryptographically check the file’s signature to ensure it matches the original developer’s certificate and hasn’t been tampered with.
Policy on Modified APKs (Mods)
While we primarily host original files, we also provide “Mods” (modified versions) for user convenience. We adhere to strict labeling rules:
- Clear Labeling: We clearly label these files as “Mod” or “Modified” so you always know what you are downloading.
- Extra Checks: Modified files undergo rigorous testing to ensure the modification affects only the gameplay/features and introduces no malicious code.
- Recommendation: While we verify safety, we recommend downloading the Original versions for maximum stability and security.
2. Content Standards
Our goal is to provide accurate and helpful information. We use a hybrid approach to content creation:
- Accuracy: Technical specifications (Version, Size, Android Requirements) are synchronized with developer releases.
- Objectivity: Our reviews and descriptions strive to be unbiased, highlighting both pros and cons of applications.
3. The Team Behind Captain Droid
We are not just a database; we are a team of experienced developers and content creators passionate about the Android ecosystem. We strive to make the Android experience as seamless as possible.
