What is Switch Access?
The Switch Access application is designed for people with disabilities and allows them to control their device without touching the screen. Control of a smartphone or tablet is carried out by means of the device’s camera using one or more switches that activate functions. This is also useful for those who find it inconvenient to directly interact with the device’s screen due to being busy.
How it works:
Set up a switch instead of a touchscreen that will respond to your specific actions. These can be both physical buttons on the device and configured functions in the sensor that will generate commands.
Navigation on the Switch Access screen is carried out by moving through the interface functions in the form of icons or a special menu. These can be customized commands for selecting several scrolling elements or opening a menu.
Configure switch actions to suit user needs.
Use switches that connect via USB or Bluetooth.
By configuring the buttons on the device and activating the corresponding functions that each of them will be responsible for, you can fully use all the features of the device.
Features:
- Linear scanning and sequential movement between menu items.
- Scanning by columns and rows with the ability to switch from one to the other (select a row and move between menu items).
- Precise determination of the position of an object on the screen using vertical and horizontal lines.
- Selecting groups and dividing functions by color for each element.
The main advantages of using this application are full accessibility for people with disabilities. Use the program in various situations when access to the screen is difficult or impossible for some reasons.
Switch Access is a useful tool that helps people with various limitations effectively interact with mobile devices, providing them with new ways to control the interface.
