What is ScratchJr?
ScratchJr is an interactive application for preschool children that will teach them the basics of programming, proving that this is not at all a boring and difficult task. The tool is based on the Logo language created back in 1967, the successor of which is the Scratch language, which, unlike its predecessor, received an improved functional and graphical part. Of course, it will be difficult for children to learn how to work with the instrument on their own, so at first the help of one of the adults is desirable.
It is recommended to use the application on tablets, as the screens of smartphones are too small, because a small programmer will have to interact with a lot of miniature interactive elements. With all the apparent complexity, you can master ScratchJr in one day, since the main elements in the application interface are only a few sections, each of which is responsible for a specific function – actions, sounds, display, and so on. You need to build a kind of chain of available scenarios, and it can be quite long, depending on the duration of the created scene.
The entire control system in ScratchJr consists of taps and swipes, with the help of which the specified scripts are moved and launched, combining them into a single workable design. At any stage, you can use the preview to make appropriate adjustments as you work. Make cute characters run, jump, dance, use the surrounding objects. All interactive scenes, after completion and saving, are transferred to the “story”, from where they can be shared with other users of this interactive platform.
