The events of this graphic novel unfold in 1914 in the infamous Sarajevo, when Franz Ferdinand, heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne, fell from a bullet from a group of conspirators who were ideological members of the revolutionary organization Mlada Bosna. It was this event that, according to many historians, served as a catalyst for the outbreak of the First World War, the victims of which were a huge number of people.

The main character of the role-playing project Valiant Hearts: The Great War is Karl, who, among other deportees, was sent home, separated from his family. But the charismatic guy is not going to give up and follow the path destined by the “powerful of this world”, so he decides to join the army, where pain, fear and betrayal await him. But a ray of light against the background of seeming hopelessness is an early meeting and reunion with his wife and son, which Carl dreams of so much, and, as you know, dreams come true. But the story does not end there – the war again breaks in a deadly whirlwind into the well-being of the family life of the characters – Emil, Karl’s father-in-law, falls under mobilization …

The interactive novel Valiant Hearts: The Great War gradually draws gamers into a famously twisted and comprehensively thought-out plot – it presents the personal characteristics of each character, introduces the control system, at every step forcing them to empathize with the failures and rejoice at the successes of the characters.
