What is Solitaire?
Most solitaire apps stick to the bare mechanic. This one throws in a Joker card to pull you out of dead ends.
Solitaire - Classic Card Games is a classic solitaire card game built on the familiar Klondike ruleset: stack 52 cards by suit from Ace to King in the foundation piles, while arranging columns in descending order with alternating colors. Drag stacks between columns to free up buried cards. The twist is the Joker, a wildcard that lets you substitute for any card when the usual moves run dry. Some deals are mathematically unsolvable under strict rules, so the Joker keeps you playing instead of restarting every third game.
The app offers standard one-card draw and a harder three-card variant. Daily Challenge mode gives you one fixed deal per day if you want something to chip away at over coffee. Left-hand mode flips the interface so the draw pile sits on the right. Backgrounds and card faces are customizable, though the selection is narrow. Hints are unlimited, which removes most of the puzzle tension but works if you treat this as a time-killer rather than a brain workout.
Key Features:
- Joker card acts as a wildcard to bypass unsolvable layouts and keep the game moving
- Daily Challenge delivers one new puzzle every morning for a quick session
- Three-card draw mode raises the difficulty by dealing three cards at once instead of one
- Left-hand mode repositions the interface for players who hold their phone in the other hand
- Customize backgrounds and card designs to adjust the visual style
Solitaire 3 draw mode
Three-card draw is the only real difficulty toggle. Instead of flipping one card at a time from the stockpile, you flip three, and only the top card is playable until you place it. That shrinks your options and forces you to plan a few moves ahead. If you exhaust the deck without clearing the board, you cycle through the waste pile again. Standard mode is forgiving enough that you rarely get stuck without the Joker. Three-card mode makes the wildcard feel necessary rather than optional.
Other classic solitaire games
Microsoft Solitaire Collection bundles Spider, FreeCell, Pyramid and TriPeaks in one package for variety across multiple rule sets. Solitaire by MobilityWare leans into daily challenges and broader customization, with more card backs and table themes than Solitaire - Classic Card Games offers. Solitaire - Classic Card Games keeps it simpler: one rule set, one wildcard mechanic, and a narrower feature spread. Pick this if Klondike is all you need and you want the Joker safety net. Pick the others if you rotate between solitaire variants or care about deeper visual options.
This works for anyone who wants solitaire without the frustration of unwinnable deals. The Joker smooths over the rough edges, but it also flattens the challenge if you lean on it too often. Ads appear between games, and in-app purchases go up to €8.99 to remove them or unlock premium themes.
